I remember downloading "openoffice" for windows as a free version of microsoft word so is there a version of photoshop that i can download for free for macbook pro that i can do the same stuff i do in photoshop?

The closest thinphotoshop pro free downloadg you can get to this (legally) is GIMP. GIMP is very, very similar to Photoshop in the same way that OpenOffice is similar to Microsoft Office. If you know how to use Photoshop GIMP is easy to use, if you don't then there are lots of tutorials out there for GIMP and for Photoshop.
