I need to find a song that is before 1975 that has a referance to cutlure or art in a way..i was thinking the beatles song 'yesterday'...or idk what else..and whats the meaning behind the song? any ideas? thanks :)
If you're looking for a song that references culture (well pop culture I'd say), art or history & pre 1975 as you specified then I'd say take a look at the song "American Pie" by Don McLean. As a matter of fact Don McLean also myesterday lyrics beatlesade a song on that same album called "Vincent" which was about Vincent Van Gogh.
Paul McCartney's legendary album "Band On the Run" has a song on it that is about Pablo Picasso called "Picasso's Last Words (Drink to Me)". The album was released in 1973 so you may consider that also as a reference to "art".
As for the song "Yesterday" by the Beatles, it's basically a song about nostalgia. Paul is yesterday lyrics beatleslooking back to this younger days, his life, former loves, etc on the song Yesterday. He's talking about and reflecting on his past.
