I am working on a study to learn more about women from several Pacific Islands including Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Cook Islands and Pitcairn.
The study involves asking several short survey questions on e-mail regarding cultural differences experiences when traveling from an island culture.
Please contact me if you or someone you know is interested in participating/ providing insight on the partiwhy travel abroadcular topic. All responses are due May 1st.
Many Thanks!
well i'm a male and i live on Guam.
Because in many island family is very important, travelling for leisure is not common but travelling for economic opportunities is common.
I've experienced a lot of different Island culture living on Guam and most come to Guam just to take advantage of welfare programs like food stamps. Other come to the why travel abroadcollege and job opportunities. they choose guam because it's similar to their islands, it's not much of a cultural shock if they left and moved to the mainland US.
The indigenous people of Guam are americanized. they travel abroad for leisure, whether it be to visit family members, a pilgrimage to a holy site like the vatican or jerusalem, or for fun like scuba diving in palau.
